Officials say a tire blowout triggered an Arizona rollover accident that proved fatal for two people. According to a KGUN 9 news report, the fatal auto accident occurred on the Interstate 19 in Tucson near Papago Road. Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say four people were in the vehicle that rolled over after the tire blew out. Two passengers, a man and a woman, were pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were taken to local hospitals with serious injuries, but they are expected to survive.
Rollover accidents have the potential to cause catastrophic injuries or death. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly one-fourth of all auto accident fatalities in the United States involve rollover crashes. Sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks are more prone to tipping or rolling over due to their design. Faulty products such as tires also often result in devastating rollover accidents.
In any Arizona rollover accident, it is important to preserve the vehicle unaltered so it can be thoroughly examined by an expert for product defects, mechanical malfunctions, faulty design and other issues. If a fatal accident was caused by a faulty tire, then, the tire manufacturer and/or auto maker can be held liable for the victims’ wrongful death.
